Gorgon City's remix package for their latest single Unmissable is shaping up very nicely indeed. The latest addition to the collection is a rendition from Drum & Bass artist Metrik, who succeeds in cranking up the original to a new level.

Gorgon City's tracks are so accessible and radio friendly that remixing them is no easy task. How do you remain faithful to such strong source material whilst simultaneously putting your own spin on it? Metrik seems to have the answer, as with his remix of Unmissable, he's successfully balanced up the two aforementioned requirements and has turned in a real thumping track.
The tempo is cranked right up, but it's a very clean remix - it's not too busy at all, and despite the ferocious tempo and the fact that it's an absolute banger, Metrik's remix still somehow manages to retain some breathing space amongst the thumping kick, the lively synths and the chopped up vocals.
Messing with the tempo of an original track whilst retaining elements of it can sometimes pose a problem, though. Some melodies just weren't designed to work at any tempo other than the one that they were written for, and unfortunately, Metrik's remix suffers from this slightly. The vocal line has been left totally unchanged, and whilst it works very well over its original house tempo, the vocal melody for Unmissable just doesn't really work at this faster pace - it feels too rushed and chaotic, where it should feel smooth and laid-back.
Still, this is a problem inherent with remixing, and this minor quibble aside, Metrik has really nailed every other aspect of his take on Gorgon City's soon-to-be-released single. It's an extremely lively rendition that just makes you want summer to continue for at least a little bit longer, whilst simultaneously making you want to jump and dance around the room. In your underwear (that bit might just be me though, to be honest).
If you're having a bad day, give it a listen - I guarantee you'll be perked up.
