Autograf - One (Swedish House Mafia Cover)

Well, that's summer well and truly over then. We've had our week of sun, might as well dig the winter coats back out. Obviously no one gave the memo to Autograf, though, who are currently making waves with their 'Future Summer' series of tracks/downloads  - but then, they are based in Chicago, so I'd wager their weather is considerably better than ours.



Issue 2 in their summer series sees them release an incredibly slick cover version of the single that show Swedish House Mafia to fame, One (Your Name). No longer a club banger, Autograf have managed to craft a fantastically chilled future-house track, whilst remaining faithful to the source material. Make no mistakes, this is a proper cover version, not a remix. Autograf have left nothing untouched in their quest to put an entirely new spin on this old favourite. It's got a fantastic tropical vibe about it now. From the superb percussion work to the clever use of xylophone/marimba sounds peppered throughout, Autograf's cover of One is almost enough to help you forget about the miserable weather outside, and makes you long to be on a beach or by a pool somewhere.

There's a nice contrast within the track between the opening and middle sections, too, where things get a bit darker and start to kick off a bit more - there's a fantastic mini-breakdown about halfway through. I've used it already, but 'slick' is definitely the word to sum up this fantastic effort.

One really has taken on a new lease of life here, and Autograf have done an excellent job of updating it in a really unique way, and I'm excited already to see what they've got in store for the next instalment in their 'Future Summer' series. If this really is a glimpse of the future, then sign me up.
