Announcement: Site Improvements

Hey all, we're really starting to get into the swing of things now! As the site is growing, we're committed to continuing to improve it. At the minute, that means small tweaks to get it looking and working exactly how it always should've. For the future, that means a move to a far more robust platform than Blogger, and a full redesign. That's some way off, though I thought you'd like to know that it's in the pipeline.

This week, we've made numerous changes, additions, and improvements to the site:

• The biggest BY FAR is that we now have a proper web address, like a proper professional website! We're now no longer excitedoctopus.blogspot.blahblahblah... You can now simply find us at www.excitedoctopus.com. Why not bookmark it? ;)

As a side note to this, you may find for the next few days that you MUST make sure you have the www. in front of the address. Leaving it out does work, but only intermittently at the minute as the settings are still updating.

Anyway, this is a massive step for us, as it helps to build the site into a reputable brand, and makes it far more discoverable, which is a very good thing, both for us and for you.

• Less important, but still nice: you can now browse through our posts by Genre, by clicking the 'Categories' tab at the top of the page, where you'll be taken to a lovely view of all the genres we cover. If we're missing your favourite genre, let us know!

• There's also a 'Features' tab, which will let you easily access your favourite regular EO features. You may even notice there's one there that we haven't started yet - keep your eyes peeled for that one coming very soon...

• We've spruced the sidebar up a bit, adding a chart for our 5 most popular posts from the past 7 days, which is jolly exciting.

• You can also now click any of the page numbers at the bottom of the site to quickly go back and forward in time, rather than just choosing 'Previous Page'.

• The 'Home' button has gone. Does anyone even have one of those anymore, anyway?

Aaaaand I think that's about it! Mostly small changes, but they all add up to a big improvement in the way the site works. If there's anything you'd like to see, do get in touch!
