Pegboard Nerds - New Style

Never has there been an apter name for a song. Premiered over on Thissongissick.com, this is Pegboard Nerds' new track, New Style, in which... they have a new style.

Well, it's not totally new; it's definitely still Pegboard Nerds. But they experiment with new genres, namely big room and hardstyle. "Eww!" I hear you cry, but don't go anywhere just yet - it's not as bad as you think. Find out why past the jump.

The Pegboard Nerds have been on quite a roll lately, with a couple of massive tracks in Hero and Here It Comes, the latter of which was released just a few short weeks ago. All of this is in support of their massive upcoming 'UNCAGED' tour, which is going to be sweeping across North America very soon.

But what's so new in New Style? Well, the genres, mostly. They've cleverly put their own stamp onto two new types of music - all of the traits we've grown to love are still there. The opening melody is ridiculously addictive, as you would expect from PN. And the monstrous drops hit you hard, again, as you'd expect. How successful is this transfer to different genres though? It mostly works very well - the first drop is a bit too hardstyle for my liking, but then that particular genre is not something I'm ever likely to get behind. The second drop works much better, and the big room/trap influence works extremely well. It's nice to see a track in this genre that actually innovates, and breathes new life and energy into it.

It may not be on quite the same level as Here It Comes, but New Style shows that the Pegboard Nerds willingness to experiment and break boundaries will continue to pay off for them, as it's still a great track that's sure to set their tour alight.
